Preview: Rangers to Return to De Simone After Holiday Break For Matchup With Tritons

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Parkside women's basketball team is set to return to De Simone Arena for the first time in 20 days for a non conference battle with University of Missouri St. Louis. Friday's tip off is scheduled for 12 p.m. CST and will be streamed on FloSports.

  • The Rangers enter the game with a 5-3 record and have knocked off some quality opponents, including last year's NCAA Runner-up No. 8 Minnesota Duluth, and No. 5 Ferris State, both at home. 
  • Sheridan Flauger is currently leading Parkside in scoring eight games into the 2023-24 season. The junior point guard is averaging 14.4 ppg while shooting 44.6% from the field. 
  • The Rangers have played just four games in the month of December, including an exhibition against Green Bay. The Rangers have been a perfect 3-0 in the month of December and will look to close out 2023 with a win.

Scouting University of Missouri-St. Louis
The Tritons enter Friday's game just above .500 overall at 6-5 and 4-2 in conference play in the GLVC. They last played on Dec. 19th where they dropped a 70-62 decision to GLIAC foe Purdue Northwest. 
UMSL is lead by Jalysa Stokes who is averaging 19 ppg so far this season. The junior guard has started all 11 games for the Tritons and is currently shooting 41.5% as well as an imprssive 90.9% from the free throw line. The guard heavy Tritons are lead inside by forward Alex Wolfe. The six footer is averaging 8.3 ppg while also pulling down 6.2 rebounds per game. USML's leading rebounder is guard Morgan Ramthun who is currently averaging 9 rebounds a game. 

Series History
Entering Friday's match up the Rangers hold a 8-3 series advantage over the Tritons. The most recent fixture featured an impressive 91 point offensive display in a 91-65 victory for the Rangers. In the victory the Rangers had 5 double digit scorers including returners Paty Gallasova with 15 points, Sheridan Flauger with 13 points and Kendal Zeiter with 12 points.
