Rangers To Open 2023-24 Season With Two Home Challenges

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Parkside women's basketball team is set to open the 2023-24 this weekend, with two tough contests. The Rangers will open the season on Friday night against Thomas More. Parkside then will take on the eighth-ranked Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs on Sunday.

Scouting Thomas More
The Saints are entering their first season in NCAA Division II after competing at the NAIA level. Thomas More was very successful in recent history in the NAIA, finishing as the NAIA runner-up with a 31-4 record last season. In 2021-22 they were the NAIA National Champions. Thomas More was picked fifth in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference preseason poll. The team averaged 76.4 points per game last season and outscored their opponents by a 19.3 margin. The Saints had four players average 10 or more points per game last year.
 
Scouting Minnesota Duluth.
The Bulldogs come into the 2023-24 season ranked eighth in the nation after finishing as the National Runner-Up last year. Senior guard Ella Gilbertson was chosen as UMD's NSIC Player to Watch this season. She was second on the team in total points last year and fourth in three-pointers made. Duluth did graduate the 2022 DII Honda Athlete of the Year Brooke Olson who averaged 23.1 points per game last season. The Bulldogs will take on Thomas More on Saturday in Hammond, Indiana before taking on Parkside on Sunday afternoon.
 
Series History
This will be the first matchup between Thomas More and Parkside. The Rangers have faced Duluth four times since 2017 and are 0-4 in those matchups.
