Parkside Defeated in Season Finale, Finish Third in GLIAC

Allendale, Mich - The Parkside Rangers completed the 2023 season on the road taking on Grand Valley State University. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

Grand Valley State picked up where they left off from their first meeting against Parkside, taking the first two sets to begin the contest. Grand Valley State hit an outstanding .484 in the opening set and blew past Parkside 25-17. Jordyn Gates led the way with six kills in the set. In the second set, Grand Valley State didn't hit as efficiently as they did in the first, but still came away on top, downing Parkside 25-21. 

In the third set, Parkside steam rolled back into the game with a thrilling victory. Parkside took the set 30-28 in a battle. They hit .250 as a team and out-blocked Grand Valley State and tallied five team blocks. Sam Fisch had five kills in the set and had them in timely situations. A few attacking errors from Grand Valley State lifted Parkside ahead in the final moments of the critical set. 

Parkside battled hard once again in the fourth set, but fell in the end. Grand Valley State held Parkside in check, and won the set 25-18. Parkside concluded the regular season 18-11 overall, and 12-6 in conference. That record is good enough for a third place finish in the GLIAC. This is their highest win total in a season since 2015 and this the highest finish Parkside has ever had in the GLIAC. Parkside returns to action on Wednesday to host the Quarterfinals.
