Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rangers Comeback Falls Short

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The Parkside men's soccer team traveled to Minnesota for a Sunday morning GLIAC contest against St. Cloud State. The Rangers entered the match on a five game winning streak. The Huskies two goals were too much for the Rangers to overcome as they drop the contest 1-2.

Inside the Box Score
  • Mario Bolado scored the Rangers lone goal on a PK. Bolado now has two goals to his tally this season.
  • The match was a physical one, nine yellow cards were dished out between the two teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ranger got behind early to a 11th minute goal scored by the Huskies. The Rangers would fight to find the equalizer for the rest of the first half, but at the end of the first 45 minutes the score was 0-1 in favor of the Huskies.

The second half got off to a disastrous start for the Rangers as a handball in the box lead to a PK being awarded to the Huskies in the 52nd minute. Daniyal Rana saved the initial shot but the save was spilled and the Huskies cleaned up the mess to put the Huskies ahead 0-2.

10 minutes later a red card would be dished out to the Rangers, making the comeback even harder as they Rangers were forced to play with 10 players for the rest of the match. About 30 seconds later a foul in the box by the Huskies allowed for Mario Bolado to slot home a PK to pull the Rangers closer 1-2. While the Rangers would push to find the equalizer time would run out on them and the scoreline would remain the same for the final.

The Rangers will be back in action at home against Purdue Northwest for another GLIAC battle on Friday. Kickoff from Wood Road Soccer Field is set for 12 pm.m CDT. Tickets, coverage and more can be found at parksiderangers.com.
