ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Parkside women's soccer team returned to action on Friday night under the lights against No. 20 Grand Valley State University. With just a handful of matches left in the regular season the Rangers faced a tough showdown with the Lakers. Parkside displayed stout defense and knotted up No. 20 Grand Valley State.

Brittany Nikolic had to say about the scoreless bout, "Very proud of the effort the team put forth tonight. They showed a lot of toughness and discipline. Izzy was tremendous in goal and stepped up big when she was called upon. If we continue playing with this desire we will have good momentum going into postseason."
Inside the Box Score
- The Rangers defense had an impressive showing, holding the Lakers scoreless for just the fourth time this season.
- Senior goalkeeper Izzy Guyer got the starting nod and posted 11 saves along with her second clean sheet on the season.
- Defenders Adrianna Rodriguez, Maddie Laszewski, and Abbey Canfield put in full 90 minute shifts in the shutout of the Lakers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers were faced with the tall task to slow down the elusive Laker offensive attack. Grand Valley fired off 26 total shots on the night and landed 11 of which on frame.
Izzy Guyer saved all 11 shots she faced.
The best offensive opportunity came in the 70th minute of play when
Emily Mikkelson was able to fire a shot on frame. Mikkelson's shot was saved by the Lakers keeper to keep the score knotted up 0-0. The score would remain the same for the final 20 minutes of the match.
