Rangers Drop to Huskies in 3-2

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside women's soccer team returned to Wood Road Soccer Field on Friday afternoon for a GLIAC contest against Michigan Tech. The match was apart of Parkside Athletics Cancer Awareness games as the Rangers wore pink jerseys in support. The Rangers and Huskies played in a high scoring affair but the Rangers drop the match in a 3-2 result.

Inside the Box Score
  • Uda Kimba and Madi Kasianowicz opened their career goal accounts, each scoring a goal.
  • The Rangers recorded seven total points on the day with two goals and three assists, tying their season high.
  • Mia Guyton got the starting nod in goal and recorded seven saves on the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers struck first on a corner kick in the 9th minute of action. Freshman Kate Brown sent the right footed corner into the box to connect with sophomore Uda Kimba. Kimba nodded the ball home to put the Rangers ahead early and recording her first goal as a Ranger.

The Huskies would answer in the 14th minute when a spilled save would be put in the back of the net to knot up the score at 1. Michigan Tech would tack on another goal in the 23rd minute as the Huskies executed a corner kick to put them ahead 2-1. The Rangers weren't done yet as they closed out the first half scoring off with a Madi Kasianowicz goal in the 41st minute. Interlinking play between Jenna Scholz and Adrianna Rodriguez led to a pass to Kasianowicz for her to nestle the ball in the left side netting to draw the Rangers back even at 2-2.

The score wouldn't remained tied for long as the Huskies scored just eight minutes into the second half pushing the score to 3-2. The Rangers would spend the final 37 minutes searching for an equalizer but to no avail, and the scoreline would finish 3-2.

The Rangers will return to action at Wood Road Field on Sunday as they will play in their senior day match. Parkside will square off with Northern Michigan with a kickoff time of 12 p.m. CDT.
