GLIAC Action and Senior Day Await Men's Soccer This Weekend

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside men's soccer team enters this weekend of action after picking up an impressive GLIAC win over Purdue Northwest last Friday and a tough nonconference matchup with Lake Erie College on Tuesday. The highlight of the weekend was the sweep of the GLIAC Player of the Week awards. Juniors Mario Bolado and Augustin Warnod garnered the awards due to their tremendous performances. Bolado recorded a penalty kick goal and registered an assist to earn Offensive Player of the Week. Warnod's first start on Friday resulted in a five save afternoon, a clean sheet, and Defensive Player of the Week.  

Ahead for the Rangers is the final weekend of regular season GLIAC action. Currently sitting at the top of the table, the Rangers can clinch the regular season GLIAC title with a win or draw on Friday against Davenport. On Sunday, the Rangers will square off against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals while celebrating their senior class. The Parkside men's soccer program will honor Joe Heup, Kaffie Kurz, Edgar Heredia Victoria, Mike Howell, Noah Schultz, Lars Popp, and Simone Koehne.

SCOUTING DAVENPORT 

The Rangers and Panthers last squared off on Oct. 1st in Grand Rapids, Mich in a 2-1 come from behind victory for the Rangers. Despite the close scoreline, the Rangers outperformed the Panthers in many facets of the game, including shots. Parkside outshot Davenport a whopping 25-8 and put 11 of their 25 shots on frame. 

Since facing Parkside, Davenport has gone 1-0-2, picking up a win against Saginaw Valley State and drawing Cloud State and most recently Northern Michigan.  

The Panthers enter the weekend needing to separate themselves from the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State. The two programs sit tied at 2-3-3 in fifth place in the GLIAC.  

SCOUTING SAGINAW VALLEY STATE 

The Rangers and Cardinals meet again. The previous match this season between the two squads was back on Sept. 29th in University Center, Mich. where Parkside came out on top in a 3-1 scoreline. Goals in the match were scored by Chris Estrada, Bryan Torres, and Edgar Heredia Victoria. Despite allowing a goal, the Rangers defense stifled the Cardinals offensive attack, allowing just four shots in the match. 

Since facing Parkside, Saginaw Valley State has gone 1-2-1 picking up their lone win against Northern Michigan in close 3-2 battle. The Cardinals are also set to face off against the Pride on Friday before traveling up to Kenosha to face the Rangers. 

The Cardinals sit tied with Davenport for fifth place in the GLIAC and will look for some good results this weekend to move up the table.
