Rangers Remain Unbeaten in GLIAC Play After Comeback Versus Panthers

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Parkside men's soccer team remained on the road this Sunday afternoon as they squared off against the Davenport Panthers in Michigan. The Rangers were hot entering the match on a three game win streak, and they extend it now to four as they came from behind to top the Panthers 2-1.

Inside the Box Score
  • The Rangers put on a shot clinic, outshooting the Panthers a whopping 25-8 on the afternoon.
  • Chris Estrada bagged his second goal on the weekend with a 56th minute equalizer.
  • Paco Piscaglia scored his first goal since August with his 82nd minute game winner.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers struck early in the match, scoring in the 13th minute of play. The Rangers would then begin their search to find an equalizer. Unable to find a goal in the remaining 32 minutes of the first half, Parkside would enter halftime down 0-1.
The second half would be all Parkside as they would fire 15 shots in the final 45 minutes of action. The Rangers finally broke through and equalized when Chris Estrada would finish off Alejandro Martinez's pass in front of the goal to bring them back even at 1-1. Martinez's assist now draws him even with Edgar Heredia Victoria in points on the team so far this season with nine.

The Rangers would then cap off the match with an 82nd minute game winner. Noah Schultz created pressure on the Panther backline and forced a mistake out of the centerback and took possession of the ball inside the 18-yard box. Schultz then squared it to Paco Piscaglia to slot into the back of the net putting the Rangers on top 2-1. Parkside would then fall into the defensive for the final eight minutes of the match to see the score hold.

The Rangers will be back in action on Friday as they will travel up to the Upper Peninsula for another battle with Northern Michigan. Kickoff for the match is set for 2 p.m. EDT. Coverage can be found at parksiderangers.com/coverage.
