HAMMOND, Ind. --- The Parkside men's basketball team closed out the first half of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Saturday afternoon, hitting the road to take on the Purdue Northwest Pride. The Rangers were able to build up a double-digit lead midway through the first half, but the Pride was able to rally back to down the Rangers by a final score of 90-82.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-           Nick Brown had 18 points on 6-7 shooting. He was a perfect 3-3 from deep and pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
-           Rasheed Bello had 18 points on the night to go along with four steals and three assists.
-           Parkside shot 51.8% from the field while knocking down nine threes.
-           Purdue Northwest shot 57.4% from the field while hitting 11 threes.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite both teams leading by double figures during the contest there were just two lead changes and three ties. Parkside grabbed the lead early with an 8-0 run to take an 8-3 lead in the first minute and a half. The Pride was able to pull back to even after the under 16 timeout, but Parkside had the answer again, using a 12-2 run to build the lead to 20-10 with 12:47 to go in the half.
 
The Pride was able to make a run over the final eight minutes of the half to take a 42-38 lead over Parkside after 20 minutes of play. Brown had ten first-half points and five rebounds. Josiah Palmer had ten points while knocking down two threes.
 
Parkside was able to tie the contest back up at 44 when Bello turned a steal into a basket on the other end. The Rangers were able to keep within a possession until the 11:28 mark of the second half when Purdue Northwest was able to expand their lead. The Pride's lead stretched to as many as 12 points in the second half, closing out Parkside 90-82.
