Rangers Stunned in Five Sets by Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech 3, Parkside 2 (23-25, 19-25, 25-18, 25-17, 15-6) 
The Parkside volleyball team hosted the Michigan Tech Huskies on Saturday afternoon in De Simone Arena. The two teams came into the match with overall records at 7-7 (2-4 GLIAC) Parkside and 8-5 (2-4 GLIAC) Michigan Tech. The Rangers started off strong by winning the first two sets. After set two, the Huskies turned on the gas stealing the match in five sets.   
 
MATCH RECAP 
Parkside went down early in set one with a score of 12-10 but then went on a four-point run before Michigan Tech called a timeout. From there both teams traded points, but Rangers were able to take the first set 25-23. The Rangers took the winning momentum into the second set as they went on an 8-1 lead. The Huskies had some answers of their own while they were able to come back to make it 8-5. Parkside was able to go on another run making it 15-7 as Michigan Tech called their first timeout of the set. The Huskies had answers coming out of the timeout making the set interesting as they made it 23-17 Rangers before Parkside used a timeout. The Rangers were able to close out set two winning 25-19. In set three the Huskies were not going away as the lead the whole set and winning the set 25-18. The Huskies kept dominating in set four as they led 16-9 before Parkside used their second timeout of the set. Michigan Tech won the set 25-17. Heading into set five Michigan Tech came out to an early 6-2 lead before Parkside used their first timeout of the set. Michigan Tech won set five and winning the game 15-6. 
 
NOTEWORTHY STATS 
Reese Rossnagel led Parkside in kills with 17. Behind Rossnagel was Ava Irving with 10 kills. Karlee Lois led Parkside in assists with 22 followed by Alysha Brickl's 18. Mareena Coon and Lindsay Krznarich led the team with eight blocks a piece. 
 
WHAT'S UP NEXT 
The Rangers will travel to Grand Valley State on Sept. 30. The Rangers look to bounce back from their last match up against the Lakers where the Rangers fell 3-1 back on Sept. 17. For more information, visit parksiderangers.com
