HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers offense got on the board in the 17
th minute with a goal from
Mike Howell coming off a free kick from
Mario Bolado. The Rangers would take that slim lead to the half but wasted no time adding to it in the second half. In the 49
th minute,
Edgar Heredia Victoria stole the ball away from his opponent, leading to a breakaway goal to give the Rangers a two-goal lead that they would hold for the remaining time.
HEAR FROM COACH ZITZKE
"I thought our back four and defensive middle and our goalkeeper was pretty organized and improved a bit from last game. On the attacking side of the field, I think we played with a little more urgency than in our last game. We converted another set piece goal and then on a turnover, Edgar scored on a one-on-one with the keeper. There are still a lot of areas to improve, but it was a step in the right direction. Another win against a long-time rival, so it was a very good weekend."
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Howell earned his second career goal and his first goal since 2018, when he was a member of the Western Illinois squad. Heredia Victoria scored his 10
th career goal to help seal the win. Bolado notched his second career assist, with his first coming back on Nov. 4, 2021 against Northern Michigan.Â
