ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Parkside baseball team splits Saturday's doubleheader against Grand Valley State in the final GLIAC doubleheader of the regular season. The Rangers won game one by a score of 4-2 and lost game two in a close battle ending 5-4 Lakers.

GAME 1 RECAP
The Lakers once again got their scoring started early with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Rangers answered back in the top of the second inning with RBI singles from senior
Noah Tyrrell and sophomore
Caleb Badgley to tie the game at 2-2. Senior
Max Bruff continued the scoring in the top of the third with an RBI double. Senior
Kurt Mlachnik later hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth to extend the Rangers lead as the game finished 4-2.
Senior
Sean Sodaro got the start on the mound for the Rangers as he went four innings where he allowed two runs on six hits, walking three and striking out two. He was relieved in the fifth by
Alex Saunders, who walked one and struck out one in his one inning of work. Saunders is credited with the win. Junior
Chris Conrad earns the save for his two innings of work to end the game.

GAME 2 RECAP
This time the Rangers got off to an early lead when junior
Jared Heinzen was hit by a pitch which scored senior
Hunter Weddel in the first inning. Freshman
Matt Felske then extended the lead to 2-0 in the top of the fourth with a solo home run; his first of his Parkside career. The Lakers scored three in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead. Heinzen tied the game in the top of the ninth with a two-run double. The comeback for the Rangers was ended by the Lakers in the bottom of the ninth on a fielders choice, which scored the winning run.
Freshman
Noah Gerritson got the start in game two as he went six innings allowing four runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out three. Junior
Andrew Sumner finished the game for the Rangers going two and two-thirds innings allowing one run on two hits while walking four and striking out one.

The Parkside Baseball team will close out the series as well as their season on Sunday against Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.
