Rangers Fall to Davenport in Final Home Games; Saturday vs. GVSU Cancelled

GAME 1: Davenport 7, Parkside 4
GAME 2: Davenport 13, Parkside 0
Davenport came into town and took both games of a doubleheader against the Parkside softball team at Case Softball Complex Saturday afternoon. The Panthers' bats were hot all day, combining for 20 runs in both games.

Saturday's doubleheader against GVSU has been cancelled due to inclement weather in the area.

Game 1 Recap
The Panthers jumped out to a commanding lead in game one, scoring three runs in the first inning and four in the fourth before Parkside was able to respond. In the bottom of the fourth, senior Kiley Akey got the Rangers on the board with her third home run of the season, this one a 2-run shot to left field that one-bounced off the Sports & Activities Center. In the bottom of the fifth, junior Jadynn Powell drove in junior Taylor Delgado to make it 7-3 and the final run of the game came in the bottom of the sixth when junior Dani Evans came in to score while Tai Gonzales attempted to steal second.

Three Rangers had multiple hits in game one, with Evans going 2-for-3 with two runs and a double, Akey going 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI and Delgado going 2-for-4. Redshirt-senior Tijanne Ross suffered the loss, going the first 3.0 innings while freshman Olivia Masnica pitched the final 4.0 innings.

Game 2 Recap
The second game was all Davenport, as the Panthers scored one in the first, three in the third and went off for a 9-run fourth inning. The Rangers were limited to one hit, which was a redshirt-senior Alyssa Laxson single in the second inning.
