Gerritson Throws Complete Game Shutout as Rangers Split Doubleheader

GAME 1: PNW 3, Parkside 1
GAME 2: Parkside 5, PNW 0

The Parkside baseball team ended their season series against the Purdue Northwest Pride on Wednesday. After falling in a close first game to the Pride, the Rangers dominated in the finale and were able to leave Hammond with a win to close out the series.

GAME 1 RECAP
The Pride jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. They went on to add two more runs in the sixth inning off of an RBI triple. The Rangers were able to get on the board in the seventh inning, as Bryce Inman grounded out to third base to score Brendan Collins.

Caden Bronkhorst was handed the loss (1-4) after pitching six innings and striking out four batters.

GAME 2 RECAP
Inman got the action started in the third inning as he earned his second RBI of the day by singling in Bryce Brogni to put the Rangers ahead 1-0. Dominic Esposito kept the third inning rally going with a single through the right side to bring home Hunter Weddel. Ryan Brouch reached first safely on a throwing error, which gave Collins the opportunity to score and put the Rangers up by three. The Rangers earned the rest of their runs in the top of the fourth. Weddel singled to center and brought home Caleb Badgley. Collins later singled up the middle to bring home Weddel.

Noah Gerritson was credited with the win (2-4) after throwing a complete game shutout, which featured six strikeouts.
