Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game went scoreless all the way until the sixth inning and the first hit of the game was recorded in the bottom of the third by Maryville. In the sixth, Maryville scored its lone run with an RBI single up the middle after the runner advanced on an error. The Rangers' final chance came in the top of the seventh, where freshman
Tia Livernash led off with a single and junior
Alex Wooten reached on a Saints' error. After a sac bunt by redshirt-senior
Alyssa Laxson, junior
Dani Evans hit an RBI groundout to tie it up at 1-1. The go-ahead run came in on a wild pitch and some "heads up" baserunning by junior
Brenna Konstanty.
Â
Akey set the Saints down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh to end the game for the Rangers.
Â
WHO LED THE WAY
The Rangers finished with just three hits in the pitchers duel, with Livernash going 1-for-3 with a run, freshman
CaroleAnn Goglin going 1-for-2 and redshirt-sophomore
Taylor Delgado went 1-for-2.
