Nelson Moves to Third in All-Time Scoring as Rangers Beat Huskies 86-80

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Parkside women's basketball team hosted the Michigan Tech Huskies to open GLIAC play on Thursday evening in De Simone Arena. Alyssa Nelson dominated, scoring 30 points and moving into third place on the Parkside all-time scoring list, passing Parkside Hall of Famer Jadee Rooney with 1,697 career points. The Rangers came away with a big win to start off the conference schedule.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers got off to a hot start in the opening quarter, with Paty Gallasova leading the way with seven points in the period. The Huskies and the rangers ended the first quarter tied at 20-20.



The Huskies found the hot hand in the second quarter, jumping out to a 31-24 lead. The Rangers rallied back with a bucket from Nelson and a three-pointer from Sheridan Flauger. Back-to-back threes from Nelson gave the Rangers the lead, as the Green & White went into halftime leading 41-37.



The Huskies rallied back and took a brief 47-46 lead. The Rangers recovered quickly and led 53-49 at the media timeout. Kayla Bohr scored five points in the remaining 4:30 of the quarter and the Rangers led by five heading into the fourth.



Nelson continued to dominate in the fourth, totaling ten points in the quarter as the Rangers went on to win 86-80 and advance to 1-0 in conference play.

A LOOK AT THE STATS
Nelson led the way with 30 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Flauger ended with 18 points, two rebounds, and six assists. Gallasova and Bohr both ended with 12 points. Sara Dax led the Huskies with 26 points.
