Rangers Lose to Lakers in Three Sets

The Parkside Volleyball team fell to the Lake Superior State Lakers in three sets on Saturday in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.  
 
MATCH RECAP 
The Rangers struggled to keep up with the Lakers throughout the three sets on Saturday. The first set was controlled by the Lakers, who got off to a 13-5 lead and never looked back. 
 
The Lakers continued to dominate in the second set but the Rangers found life when they went on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to just 12-11. The Rangers fight back was highlighted by kills by freshman Ava Irvin and the team leader in kills, Reese Rossnagel. The Lakers took control again from there to take the second set by a score of 25-20. 
 
The Rangers managed to get their first lead of the match in the third set, getting off to a 6-2 lead. The Lakers continued to battle back and tied the set 8-8. The Lakers controlled the rest of the match, winning the third and final set 25-19. 
 
NOTEWORTHY STATS 
Rossnagel continued to lead the team in kills with 13, bringing her season total to a staggering 227. Senior Alysha Brickl led the team in assists with 17 as well as digs with nine.
 
WHAT'S UP NEXT 
The Rangers will head to the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament on October 14-15 with hopes of ending the six game skid.
