Strokosch, Mikkelson Lead Rangers in Commanding Win

The Parkside women's soccer team hosted the Purdue Northwest Pride at Wood Road Field on Friday to close out the regular season. The Rangers offensive took charge early in the match and never looked back, as they earned their fourth shut out victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rangers got on the board early with a goal that came in the 19th minute with a header goal scored by Myah Strokosch, which came off a corner kick from Alexis Bolger. The Rangers would go on to take the 1-0 lead into the half.

The Green and White got out to a hot start in the second half, scoring in the 47th minute with a goal from Emily Mikkelson.



Mikkelson went on to score her second goal of the game in the 57th minute, with another assist being credited to Alexis Bolger.



Strokosch added to her scoring total with a long-range goal in the 74th minute.



The Rangers were not done scoring yet. Phoebe Hillery drew a foul just outside the box with five seconds left on the clock. Her free kick shot was saved by Pride goalkeeper Ashley Lovins, and deflected right to Sarah Swonger, who scored the Rangers fifth and final goal.



STATWORTHY
Parkside tallied the most goals in a single game for the program since Sept. 12, 2014, when the Rangers defeated Missouri S&T 7-0.

Mikkelson increased her season scoring total to five goal, while strokosch is now at three goals on the year. Swonger earned her first goal of the season.

WHAT'S NEXT
