Parkside 3, #6 Grand Valley State 1
The Parkside women's soccer team hosted the #6 Grand Valley State Lakers at Wood Road Field on Friday. The Rangers jumped out to an early lead and battled for the full 90 minutes to take down the defending national champions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Alexis Baker got the Rangers on the board in the 10
th minute with a right-footed goal. The Lakers offense was knocking on the door for most of the first half and into the second. They finally broke through on the scoreboard with a goal in the 65
th minute that was scored by Kennedy Bearden. The Rangers took back the lead in the 71
st minute with a breakaway goal for
Makayla Wesemann. Baker put the game away in the 73
rd minute with a header goal that came off a free kick from
Jaime Mohs.
STATWORTHY
Baker earned her seventh and eighth goals of the season, while Wesemann earned her second.
Mia Guyton started in goal for the Rangers, earning four saves.
The Rangers were the first GLIAC team to beat the Lakers since April 16, 2021, when the Lakers fell to Ashland 2-1. This was the first win over Grand Valley State for the Rangers since Nov. 21, 2008, snapping an 11-game losing streak.
