Saginaw Valley State 77, Parkside 73
In came right down until the end, but the Parkside men's basketball team saw its 3-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, as Saginaw Valley State came away with a 77-73 victory at De Simone Arena. Neither team led by more than six points the entire game, with 15 lead changes and 12 times where the game was tied.

Parkside moved to 8-9 overall and 5-5 in the GLIAC while SVSU improved to 11-6 overall and 5-4 in the GLIAC. Redshirt-sophomore
Vinson Sigmon Jr. finished with 21 points, his second highest total of the year.

DOWN THE STRETCH
The teams went back-and-forth the entire game, with the biggest lead on both sides being a 6-point Parkside advantage early in the second half. SVSU used a quick 6-0 run with 3:44 to play in the game to go up 72-68 and they kept the lead the rest of the way. The Cardinals were able to ice the game away at the free-throw line as the Rangers were forced to foul.Â

Sigmon Jr. went for 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting while hitting five triples. Three other Rangers finished in double-figures, with
Jamir Simpson going for 14 points and six rebounds, redshirt-senior
Tray Croft had 13 points and four rebounds and redshirt-freshman
Colin O'Rourke finishing with 11 points and five rebounds.

As a team, Parkside shot 47.1% from the floor and went 9-of-26 from deep. The Rangers went -5 in rebounding and turnovers went even at 12 apiece.

Parkside will hit the road next weekend, first battling Grand Valley State on Thursday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. and then taking on Davenport on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. They'll return home to face Northern Michigan on Feb. 3 in a Marquee Matchup powered by Upload Partners, which will feature a free broadcast on the Parkside Sports Network.
