Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Drops Both on Saturday as Rangers Celebrate Senior Day

Game 1: Ashland 32, Parkside 11
Game 2: Ashland 17, Parkside 7
Ashland's offense was too much for the Parkside baseball team on Saturday afternoon at Historic Simmons Field, as the Eagles took both games of the doubleheader by large margins. Between games, the team celebrated its senior class of Aaron Cusimano, Austin Emanuel, Jake Macaluso, Casey Oliver, Garrett LaBreche and Carlos Arteaga.

The Rangers and Eagles will finish out the series on Sunday with a single game at 2 p.m.

Game 1 Recap
Ashland put up some unbelievable numbers in game one, scoring 32 runs on 33 hits, 15 of which were extra base hits. Parkside's offense had a good day, tallying 11 runs and 12 hits. The Eagles had scoring innings of 10, nine, five, four and a pair of 2-run innings.

Individually, senior Carlos Arteaga had a nice game one, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs. Senior Dominic Esposito went 2-for-4 and senior Nicholas Eisenmenger went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Game 2 Recap
Ashland again jumped out to a huge advantage in game two, scoring five runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth. Parkside was able to score one in the fourth and two in the fifth, eighth and ninth innings, but the lead was too large to come from.

Emanuel went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI while Esposito finished 2-for-2. Jared Heinzen went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
