Parkside 4, Purdue Northwest 0
What was a 0-0 game at the half, ended up being a 4-0 route for the Parkside men's soccer team over the Purdue Northwest Pride. Four different Rangers scored, with goals coming in the 57
th, 74
th, 77
th, and 83
rd minutes.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Although the teams ended up with the same amount of shots on the day, the Rangers were able to control much of the possession throughout. In the first half, however, that possession didn't count for much, as the Pride outshot the hosts 6-4 in a somewhat uneventful half.
Â
The Green & White continued to control the flow of the game into the second half, and they had their first goal to show for it in the 57
th minute from redshirt-junior
Rade Novakovich. After a shot on target from sophomore
Edgar Heredia Victoria was parried into the air by the Pride keeper, Novakovich outjumped the keeper on the second effort, and slotted home Parkside's first. The Rangers next two came in the 74
th and 77
th minutes, and were both first career goals, with the first coming from freshman
Hugo Villalobos, and the second from redshirt-junior
Mason Linehan. Parkside capped their scoring in the 83
rd minute on a goal from Heredia Victoria, who has now scored four goals in his last two games.

HEAR FROM COACH ZITZKE
"I thought once again the guys that came off the bench provided a huge spark", said tenth year head coach
Jason Zitzke. "They raised the level of our play and I think that energized our starters in the second half."
Â
"The subs did it again in the second half too, they got goals, they got assists," Zitzke continued. "It was great to see Hugo and Mason get their first career goals, and Emilio did some great stuff in the attacking third for us, and he was awarded with an assist for it. It's also always good to get a clean sheet."
Â
A LOOK AT THE BOX SCORE
Aside from the goals mentioned earlier, Parkside attackers on the scoresheet included redshirt-junior
Nikola Kesich, who assisted on the second and third goals, and redshirt-junior
Emilio Toscano, who also assisted on the third.
Â
Both teams ended the game with 14 shots, but Purdue Northwest put more on target, 7-6. Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper
David Milan got his first start of the year, and made a career-high six saves.
