Game 2: Parkside 3, Davenport 2
The Parkside softball team hosted a doubleheader against Davenport for their 2021 home opener on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers dropped the first game 8-5, but pulled off the win in game two thanks to a Davenport error that scored senior Maegan Brookins. Game 1 Recap
The Panthers jumped on the board early, scoring three runs in the top of the second inning. However, The Rangers' discipline at the plate loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning, and a walk from Brookins brought in a run to put Parkside on the board. Redshirt-seniors Megan Aliverti and Allison Hausl each tallied an RBI in the third to make the score 3-3. Davenport was able to jump back ahead with a two hit, three run fifth inning. Parkside responded in the sixth with a run, but Davenport pulled away in the seventh on a double that tacked on two more runs to the Panther lead, 8-4. The Rangers added one more in the seventh thanks to a home run from Aliverti.
Â
Senior Alyssa Laxson and Hausl went 2-for-4, and Tai Gonzales, Jessica Miklos, Aliverti, Hausl, and Jadynn Powell all scored a run. Hausl pitched a complete game, but took the loss on the mound.

Game 2 Recap
Miklos started the game for Parkside with a single to center field, and eventually scored on a double from sophomore Alex Wooten to give the Rangers an early 1-0 lead. In the second, sophomore Taylor Delgado capitalized on an error made by Davenport's catcher to double the Green & White lead. The score held at 2-0 until the sixth thanks to five no-hit innings from Parkside starter Kiley Akey. Davenport finally got to her in the sixth, scoring two runs to tie the contest. A 1-2-3 top of the seventh from reliever Tijane Ross gave the Rangers a chance to walk it off in the bottom of the seventh, and they did just that. With Brookins already on second thanks to a leadoff single and advancement on a throwing error, Miklos ended the game with a single to the shortstop that scored Brookins thanks to a fielding error by the Panther first baseman.
Â
Miklos, Brookins, and Wooten all went 2-for-4, while Aliverti and Laxson each recorded a hit. Akey surrendered two hits and two runs in 5.1 innings pitched.
