HOW IT HAPPENED
It didn't take long for Northern Michigan to grab a 1-0 lead in Sunday's match. In the 6th minute, Caroline Halonen scored the  opening goal off of a Wildcat free-kick just outside the Parkside box. The hosts doubled their lead five minutes before halftime when Evelyn Flor jumped on a deflection in the Ranger box, and curled it around keeper Izzy Guyer. Just minutes later, the Rangers responded with a long range goal from junior Suly Perez, the first of her career. Perez received the ball shortly after a Ranger throw-in, cut inside on her right foot, and unleashed a shot that cleared the Wildcat goalkeeper.

Trailing out of the halftime break 2-1, Parkside nodded it up almost immediately. This time it was Strokosch, who received the ball with her back to goal at the top of the Wildcat box, turned, and whipped a shot over the Northern Michigan keeper. That score held until the hosts found a third in the 55th minute, and held on to the 3-2 lead for the remainder of the game.

STATWORTHY
It was a day of firsts for the Green & White. Aside from Perez's first career goal, Strokosch's goal is her first of the season. She scored two in her 2018 freshman season.

The Rangers were outshot heavily on the day, 32-5, including 13-2 shots on goal. Sophomore Izzy Guyer got the start in goal for Parkside, and made 10 saves, her third 10+ save game of the season.

WHAT'S NEXT
