The Parkside softball team earned its fifth straight split on Sunday afternoon at Case Softball Complex, as the Rangers won game one but lost game two in back-to-back 1-run games.

Parkside moved to 12-20 overall and 8-12 in the GLIAC as they head into the final two weeks of the regular season.

GAME 1 RECAP
A late offensive surge helped Parkside to the win in game one, as the team scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Both teams scored one run each in the third and fourth innings, as senior
Alyssa Laxson hit a homer in the third inning and graduate student
Megan Aliverti hit a home run in the fourth inning. Heading into the sixth inning with the game tied up at 2-2, sophomore
Cassie Rutledge led off with a home run to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead and later in the inning, graduate student
Allison Hausl drilled a two-run home run, but Hausl was ruled out for taking her helmet off before crossing home plate.Â

Wayne State made it interesting, scoring a run in the top of seventh inning, but junior
Kiley Akey entered and earned her second save of the season. Hausl earned the win, winning her third straight start. She went 6.0 innings allowing two runs on four hits and improved to 6-5 this season.

GAME 2 RECAP
After holding Wayne State scoreless through 3.0 innings, Parkside jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in game two as Rutledge hit an RBI double to score sophomore
Taylor Delgado and later in the inning, senior
Jessica Miklos had an RBI groundout that scored Rutledge.

Wayne State scored one in the top of the fourth to make it 2-1 Parkside, then hung a 4-run inning on the Rangers in the sixth inning to make it 5-2 WSU. The Rangers responded in the bottom of the sixth inning, as senior
Morgan Moore drove in a pair on a double to make it 5-4 Warriors. Aliverti drew a two-out walk to get the tying run on base in the seventh inning, but she was stranded at first base.

Delgado went 2-for-4 while Aliverti went 2-for-3 with a double. Moore finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Akey suffered the loss in game two after senior
Tijanne Ross started and Hausl finished.

WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will hit the road and battle Davenport on Saturday, April 24 before returning home to face Purdue Northwest on Sunday, April 25 at 11:30 a.m. where the team's will finish the game that was played at PNW on March 30, followed by the original doubleheader.
