Baseball Drops Series Finale at Wayne State, 8-1

Wayne State 8, Parkside 1
The last game of the series between the Parkside baseball team and the Wayne State Warriors turned out similar to the first. The Rangers had seven hits compared to the Warriors eight, but fell 8-1.

GAME RECAP
Wayne State grabbed a 2-0 lead, scoring runs in the first and third inning off of Parkside starter Aaron Cusimano. The Rangers cut the hosts lead in half in the top of the fourth when redshirt-senior Austin Emanuel walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI double from redshirt-senior Nicholas Eisenmenger. That score held until the bottom of the sixth when Wayne State scored two runs thanks to a one-out Ranger fielding error.

The Warriors pitching was able to hold down the Green & White offense for the remainder of the game, and added four more runs in the eighth to make it 8-1.

A LOOK AT THE BOX SCORE
Senior Carlos Arteaga led the Ranger offense going 2-for-4 on the day. Emanuel was on base twice, going 1-for-3, and drawing a walk. Eisenmenger was the only Parkside player with an extra-base hit and RBI.

Cusimano pitched 5.1 innings for the Green & White, allowing only four hits and two earned runs. Phillip Harper, Jake Macaluso, and Chris Conrad all made scoreless relief appearances for the Rangers.

WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will be right back in action this Wednesday when they travel to Lewis for a single game against the Flyers at 2 p.m. Next weekend they'll host Grand Valley State for a four-game series, starting on Friday, April 23 at 3 p.m.
