Rangers Drop Two at McKendree

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside baseball team had a rough outing on Saturday, dropping two games at McKendree. Game one finished 15-6, and game two finished 15-0.

GAME 1: McKendree 15, Parkside 6
The Bearcats jumped out in front big in the first two innings of the contest, scoring three runs on three hits in the first, and six runs on six hits in the second off of Parkside starter Jake Macaluso. The Rangers responded with three of their own in the top of the third thanks to back-to-back RBI doubles from redshirt-senior Casey Oliver and senior Hunter Weddel. Their third run of the inning came from a fielder's choice RBI from senior Carlos Arteaga. Parkside cut the lead to 9-4 in the fifth on an RBI sac-fly from senior Garrett LaBreche. After relieving Macaluso, redshirt-senior Ricky West pitched two scoreless innings before McKendree scored two more in the bottom of the fifth. Once again, the Rangers responded with two more runs in the top of the sixth, cutting the lead to 11-6 on two bases loaded walks from Arteaga and senior Dominic Esposito. The Bearcats scored four more in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 15-6.

Esposito and Weddel led the way offensively for Parkside, each grabbing two hits to go with an RBI.

GAME 2: McKendree 15, Parkside 0
Unfortunately, game two didn't get better for the Rangers, as they were held scoreless on five hits. Junior Nicholas Schouten started on the bump for the Green & White, pitching 6.1 innings, but gave up nine runs on nine hits. Most of the Bearcat damage came in a nine-run seventh inning.

Redshirt-senior Austin Emanual and senior Bryce Brogni each went 2-for-4 with a double in game two.
