#10 Michigan Tech 77, Parkside 73
The Parkside women's basketball team nearly had their second win over a ranked opponent in Friday afternoon's contest, but they just couldn't find the basket to get them over the hump down the stretch. Junior
Alyssa Nelson led all scorers with 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting, to go along with a team-high seven rebounds.

DOWN THE STRETCH
An 18-10 second quarter from the Rangers gave them a 36-30 lead at the half, but Michigan Tech responded right out of the break with a with a 15-6 run that was capped by an Ellie Mackay three that gave the hosts a 45-42 lead with 6:12 left in the third. The Huskies extended their lead to nine by the end of the frame.
Â
At the start of the fourth, a 6-0 burst from Nelson brought the lead down to three, but that was as close as Parkside would get. Michigan Tech immediately responded to Nelson's burst with a 12-4 run that gave them a 71-62 with five minutes left, and that proved to be enough.

HEAR FROM COACH CONELY
"Tough road loss today," head coach
Jen Conely said. "I hate to sound like a broken record, but we have to get it done defensively for 40 minutes. Championship teams defend; it doesn't take talent to play defense, it takes heart, pride, determination. (Michigan) Tech had more of that today, especially in the third quarter. They outhustled us to loose balls, and were fighting for rebounds. We turned it around in the fourth quarter but dug ourselves too big of a deficit to overcome. We need to play hard on both ends to win tomorrow."
A LOOK AT THE BOX SCORE
Aside from Nelson's 25, freshman
Kayla Bohr poured in a career-high 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Junior's
Hannah Plockelman and
Courtney Schoenbeck each finished with 10 as well. Ellie Mackay led the way for the Huskies with 24 points on 10-of-20 shooting.

Parkside shot 26-of-59 (44.1-percent) from the floor, 7-of-22 (31.8-percent) from three, and 14-of-15 (93.3-percent) from the free throw line, while Michigan Tech shot 32-of-74 (43.2-percent) from the floor, 5-of-21 (23.8-percent0 from three, and 8-of-11 (72.7-percent) from the free throw line.
