Grand Valley State 3, Parkside 0 | 25-18, 25-17, 25-21
Parkside volleyball finished out its opening weekend with a 3-0 defeat at Grand Valley State on Saturday afternoon. GVSU got a huge lift in blocks, where they finished with 16 as the Rangers had one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first set, GVSU jumped out to an early 12-5 lead. Parkside battled back, bringing it to 22-18, but GVSU finished off the final three points to take set one. In the second set, GVSU again took an early lead, this time 12-1. The Rangers hung around, coming to within six at 23-17, but couldn't keep the comeback going. In the third, Parkside took the early lead this time and carried it to the end. With the Rangers leading 18-16, Â GVSU went on a 6-0 run to take the lead and they wouldn't surrender it. Parkside answered with a 3-0 run themselves, but the Lakers ended by winning the final three points.

STATWORTHY
For the second straight match, sophomore Reece Rossnagel led the way with 11 kills while freshman
Jessica Pappas had seven and junior
Jazmine Neal had six. Sophomore
Alysha Brickl led the way with 19 assists while sophomore
Kaylee Kuecker led the way in digs with 15.

As a team, Parkside hit .018 with 33 kills and 31 errors while the Lakers hit .224 with 34 kills and 12 errors. GVSU had five aces to the Rangers four.

WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will welcome in Ashland next weekend for the team's home opener on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. followed by a Saturday game at 6 p.m.
