2021 PARKSIDE MEN'S SOCCER RECAP
The Parkside men's soccer team had one of the best seasons in program history. Finishing with a record of 15-4-2, the Rangers recorded the most wins in a single season for the program since 2000. The team clinched their second GLIAC regular season title in the last three years on Nov. 4, when they defeated Northern Michigan on the road. The Rangers earned the top seed in the GLIAC tournament and hosted the semifinals and championship matches at Pritchard Park in Racine, Wis. Parkside defeated Purdue Northwest 3-2 in the GLIAC semifinals to advance to the championship match, where they beat Davenport 3-2 in a tough battle to claim their second GLIAC Tournament title since 2019. The Rangers led the GLIAC in goals, assists, points, assists per game, points per game, goal differential, scoring offense, shot accuracy, and winning percentage.
The Rangers earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and were selected to host the Fort Hays State Tigers in the second round of the tournament. Unfortunately, their time in the tournament was short lived, as the Rangers fell to the Tigers 2-1.
The Rangers were led by a platoon of stars who stepped up in various ways throughout the season.
Rade Novakovich led both the team, and the entire NCAA Division II, in goals, points, goals per game, points per game, and game winning goals. Right there at the top of the leaderboards with Novakovich, was senior
Max Ludwig. Ludwig was second in the GLIAC in points, and was third in the nation in assists. Both athletes were named to All-American teams, and earned many more awards. Durand dominated in goal all year, leading the GLIAC in goalie minutes played and shutouts.
