Volleyball Defeated by Davenport in Three Sets Friday Night

Davenport 3, Parkside 0
The Parkside volleyball team was taken down in straight sets on Friday night in De Simone Gymnasium by Davenport, a team also fighting for positioning in the 8-team GLIAC Tournament field.

Parkside will look to get back on the winning track on Saturday afternoon with a match against a tough Ferris State squad at 2 p.m. in De Simone Gymnasium.

Set 1: The Panthers got off a great start in the first set, taking a 17-8 lead and not looking back en route to a 25-13 win.

Set 2: The Rangers hung tough in the second set, but still trailed the Panthers 20-16 late in the set and couldn't get the run the team needed.

Set 3: Parkside got off a nice start in the third set, using an ace by senior Jazmine Neal and a kill by freshman Lindsay Krznarich to take a 13-12 lead.  Unfortunately, the Panthers ripped off a 9-1 run after the Rangers' lead and ended up winning the match in three sets.

STATWORTHY
Sophomore Jessica Pappas led Parkside with nine kills, while Krznarich had five along with senior Rachel Hedman. Redshirt-senior Ellie Adams led the way with 21 assists and Hedman had a team-high 11 digs.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers will finish out the weekend with a tough matchup against Ferris State, who has won 15 straight matches heading into Saturday. The teams will square off at 2 p.m. in De Simone Gymnasium.
