Alyssa Nelson Scores Her 1,000th Career Point as Women's Basketball Returns to De Simone Gymnasium

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside women's basketball team played in their 2021-2022 home opener on Thursday, as they took on the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs in the newly renovated De Simone Gymnasium.  It had been 625 days since the last home women's basketball game The Bulldogs pulled ahead early, but the Rangers rallied back and forced overtime.  The ranked Bulldogs pulled away for the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams were slow to get the offense going, as the Bulldogs ended the first quarter with an 8-6 lead.  The offense picked up in the second quarter, as the Rangers found themselves down 29-20.  The third quarter was evenly matched, as the Rangers scored just one more point than the Bulldogs and went into the fourth trailing by seven. The Rangers dominated the fourth quarter.  Outscoring the Bulldogs 17-9 and even taking the lead late.  A couple of turnovers helped the Bulldogs force overtime.  The Bulldogs went on to out score the Rangers 14-6 to win the game.

A LOOK AT THE BOX SCORE
Seniors Hannah Plockelman and Maddy Harrison hit double digits in the point column, with Plockelman scoring 23 and Gallasova scoring 17.  Senior Alyssa Nelson scored six points to breaking into the 1,000 career points club.  She is just the 19th player in program history to do so. Brooke Olson led the way for the Bulldogs, scoring 29 points.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers will head to Minnesota on Saturday, Nov. 20 to face the Minnesota State Mavericks.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
