Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Hits 16 3's in 92-79 Win over UIS

The 16 3-pointers was the most the team has made since the 2017-18 season against Robert Morris-Peoria.

Parkside 92, Illinois Springfield 79
The Parkside men's basketball team is off to its first 2-0 start since the 2015-16 season after the Rangers beat Illinois Springfield 92-79 Saturday night at the Lindenwood Tipoff Classic.

The Rangers hit 16 3-pointers and redshirt-senior Tray Croft went for 26 points after going for 36 in Friday's win over Lindenwood. The 16 3-pointers was the most the team has made since the 2017-18 season against Robert Morris-Peoria.

HEAR FROM COACH REIGEL
"Very happy with the results this weekend," head coach Luke Reigel said. "We had a lot of people contribute today and obviously Tray led the way again. Always good to get a couple wins on the road to start the year.  Now we can look forward to getting back to our new home court."

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first 5:00-minutes, the Parkside offense exploded for 18 points with 10 coming from Croft. The Rangers ripped off an 11-0 run to take an 18-6 lead and it was never a one possession game after that. Parkside led by as many as 21 points in the first half and took a 48-29 lead into the locker room at the half.

Parkside never let UIS back into the game in the second half, pushing the lead to 20+ for much of the first 10:00-minutes. They shot 12-of-13 from the free-throw line in the second half to help keep the comfortable lead.

STATWORTHY
Croft led the team for the second straight game, going for 26 points on 8-of-14 shooting, 5-for-8 from deep and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Redshirt-freshman Colin O'Rourke had 19 points and two blocks while redshirt-freshman Jamir Simpson had 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds and redshirt-freshman Nick Brown had 12.

Parkside shot 53.3-percent from the floor and 51.6-percent from 3-point range. Parkside went +16 in rebounding and -6 in turnovers.
