Parkside men's basketball cruised to its largest GLIAC win in its short history as a member of the conference as the Rangers took down the Bulldogs in De Simone Gymnasium Friday afternoon in the team's home opener. Sophomore
Solomon Oraegbu stayed hot, scoring a career-high 29 points on 8-of-10 shooting while going 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and 8-for-8 at the free-throw line.

LOPSIDED WIN
Friday's 27-point win over Ferris State, who was the favorite to win the GLIAC in the Preseason Coaches' Poll, was the largest GLIAC win in program history, surpassing the 18-point win over Northern Michigan last season. It was also the largest win for Parkside since the 2018-19 season opener over Clarke (97-59).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game went back-and-forth in the early going, with Ferris State holding an 11-9 lead with 15:43 to play in the first half. The Rangers followed that with a 7-0 run to take the lead and then ripped off a 16-0 run to take a commanding 32-15 lead with 4:48 to play. Parkside took a 36-22 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Rangers used an 11-0 run in the first few minutes to go up 47-27 and never let Ferris State back into the game. Parkside led by as many as 31 points in the second half. Oraegbu had 17 of his 29 in the second half.

After Oraegbu's huge night, redshirt-senior finished with 13 points and nine rebounds while freshman
Josiah Palmer had a career-high 11 points and hit a trio of 3-pointers off the bench. Sophomore
Vinson Sigmon Jr. finished with 10 points while senior
Ramar Evans had eight points and a team-high six assists.

Parkside shot 51.7-percent (30-of-58) from the floor while holding Ferris State to 29.9-percent (20-of-67). The Rangers won the rebounding battle 41-35 and the turnover battle 13-12. Evans, who was an All-GLIAC Defensive Team honoree last season, held FSU's Walt Kelser to nine points on 3-of-18 shooting.
