Parkside softball was back in action Saturday afternoon, and they added two more wins to their season total. They outscored Lindenwood 10-5, and tallied 19 hits over the two-game set. The Rangers have now won eight games, and have matched their 2019 win total ten games into the 2020 campaign.
GAME 1: Parkside 5, Lindenwood 4
The Rangers jumped out in front 2-0, in game one in the first inning thanks to back-to-back RBI-singles from seniors
Megan Aliverti and
Allison Hausl. They added a third run in the fifth inning when senior
Adrien Hall scored on a double from junior
Alyssa Laxson. Parkside was able to add another insurance run in the top of the seventh when Aliverti hit her second home run of the year to give the team a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Up to that point, starting pitcher
Kiley Akey had only surrendered three hits in the contest, but she ran into some trouble in the seventh. She surrendered two hits and made way for senior
Alyssa McClelland. McClelland had a save opportunity, but Lindenwood rallied to tie the game 4-4 and send the game to extra-innings. The Rangers were able to respond right away in the top of the eighth, grab a 5-4 lead, and shut the door in the bottom of the eighth.

Each team finished the game with nine hits, and Parkside finished with three errors while Lindenwood had two. McClelland got the win for the Green & White, and Aliverti led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

GAME 2: Parkside 5, Lindenwood 1
Hausl started game two on the bump, and pitched six scoreless innings for Parkside. On the offensive side, the visitors were able to jump out to another early lead in game two. The Rangers scored two runs in the second inning thanks to an RBI double from Hausl and a RBI triple from junior
Samantha Newtoff. The Green & White added their third run in the fifth inning thanks to a sac fly from senior
Jessica Crull. The Rangers final two runs came in the next inning when freshman
Dani Evans hit her first-career home run with a runner on first.

Parkside outhit the lions 10-to-7 in the game. Redshirt-senior
Cassie Walek set the table offensively in game two for the Rangers, as she went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Hausl went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Evans added two RBIs of her own after her homer in the sixth. Hausl's final line on the mound was 7.0 IP, 7 K, 7 hits, and one earned run.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers will close out their weekend-long road-trip with a third game against Lindenwood tomorrow at Noon. Following, the team will head to Georgia for games against Texas A&M – Kingsville and North Georgia from March 6-8.
