Ferris State 89, Parkside 87
Senior Day was one to remember for the Parkside women's basketball team. It was a high-scoring affair, but unfortunately the Rangers couldn't seal the deal late against the GLIAC North leaders Ferris State. With the loss, Parkside moves to 14-13 overall and 11-8 in conference play. The Rangers are in position to host a GLIACÂ tournament game, but need to win their final game at Purdue Northwest, or see Northern Michigan fall in their season finale against Michigan Tech.Â
Â
DOWN THE STRETCH
Parkside came out of the halftime break with a 39-36 lead, after senior
Taylor Stephen converted on a jumper as time expired in the first half. The Rangers extended their lead to seven in the first five minutes out of the break. The Bulldogs responded to Parkside's biggest lead to that point with a run of their own, 7-0, to bring the game to 53-53. The Green & White were once again able to extend their lead, and they grabbed a 73-64 lead thanks to a 10-2 run at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Down nine, the GLIAC North leaders proved why they are at the top of the conference, and outscored the Rangers 25-14 to finish the game.
