Illinois Springfield 1, Parkside 0
Parkside men's soccer suffered their second straight loss Thursday after conceiving a late goal to Illinois Springfield. The back-and-forth affair was level until the 92
nd minute, when the Prairie Stars' Dan Mahony scored the game winner.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
There was virtually nothing to separate the two teams for all of regulation. Parkside registered ten shots while UIS registered 13. Parkside tallied three corner kicks while the Prairie Stars tallied four. The Rangers committed nine fouls, while UIS had 11 of their own. In the end, it only took two minutes of overtime for the Prairie Stars to find the winner. After a
Juan Gonzalez save that fell back into the box, UIS's Dan Mahony found the rebound, and headed the ball past a diving Gonzalez to end the game.
