Rangers Walk-off #20 Wayne State to Earn First Win of Season

Jessica Miklos' single brought home Allison Hausl with two outs and two on base for Parkside to take game two against No. 20 Wayne State with a score of 3-2. After registering only one hit in the 8-0 loss to the Warriors in game one, the Rangers had five hits in game two including RBIs from Adrien Hall, Morgan Moore, and Miklos.

GAME 2: Parkside 3, No. 20 Wayne State 2

Wayne State had a 1-2-3 to start the game before Adrien Hall's double up the middle brought home Kellie Fenza in the bottom of the first. The Rangers held the 1-0 lead until the fourth inning after a home run by Hannah McClounie. The game remained tied until the top of the seventh when a Parkside error brought Emily Dodge home.

RALLY CAPS

As the game moved to the bottom of the seventh, the Rangers trailed 2-1, but energy levels were high and rally caps were on. Jessica Crull started the lineup with a single to right field. Samantha Newtoff came in to pinch run and advanced to second base after a sacrifice bunt by Morgan Sikon. Parkside had two outs before Megan Guitar of Wayne State walked Hausl. Morgan Moore hit a single that lofted in the air before dropping between the shortstop and center fielder, bringing home Newtoff with the tying run. Jessica Miklos stepped up to the plate for Parkside and hit a line drive up the middle to bring home Hausl as the Rangers walked off the Warriors 3-2.

GAME 1: No. 20 Wayne State 8, Parkside 0

It was all the Warriors in game one with 14 hits, four doubles and three home runs. Guitar allowed only one hit and struck out eight Rangers. Morgan Sikon recorded the Rangers lone hit as she went 1-for-1.
Kate Czoschke pitched 2.0 innings for Parkside before Allison Hausl came in as relief for the final 3.0.

STATWORTHY

Hall, Moore, Fenza and Miklos all went 1-for-3 with an RBI including a double from Hall. In game two, Alyssa McClelland is awarded the win as she pitched a complete game for the Rangers allowing seven hits, only giving up two runs.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Rangers will play Ferris State on Tuesday, April 9 at 2:30 / 4:30 p.m.at Case Softball Complex. It will be Retro Night for Parkside and fans are encouraged to wear their best retro costumes for the chance of winning a Slip 56 gift card. The first 50 fans will also receive a free t-shirt.
