Parkside softball battled back from an 8-0 game one loss to Wayne State to win game two 8-2 behind 13 hits and a good outing from
Kiley Akey.
Â
GAME ONE: Wayne State 8, Parkside 0
It was all Warriors in game one, as WSU's Megan Guitar tossed the 5.0 inning no-hitter against the Rangers, allowing just one walk.
Cassie Walek drew a walk against Guitar in the top of the fourth inning after fouling off four pitches.
Â
GAME TWO: Parkside 8, Wayne State 2
The Rangers' offense got hot in the later innings, scoring three runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Â
In the fourth inning,
Adrien Hall drove in Walek on an RBI single to make it 1-1 and later in the inning,
Lydia Byrd came through with a two-run double to left center that scored Hall and Aliverti and giving Parkside the 3-1 lead. In the sixth inning,
Jessica Crull hit a three-run home run down the left field line to put Parkside up 6-1. It was Crull's third home run of the season, which now leads the team.
Â
The Rangers kept at it, adding two more runs in the sixth inning thanks to a
Jessica Miklos two-run home run, the first of the season for Miklos and third in her career. Akey held the Warriors scoreless in the final two innings.

The top-4 in the batting order all went 2-for-4 in
Kellie Fenza, Walek, Hall and Crull. Crull had the three-run home run while Byrd and Miklos each had two RBI. The Rangers had seven extra base hits. Akey pitched the complete game allowing two runs on 10 hits.
