Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Drops Both in Final Road Series

Parkside softball finished up its final road series of the 2019 season, but the Rangers dropped two games to Saginaw Valley State with each score finishing at 6-2 SVSU. Parkside will welcome in No. 10 ranked Grand Valley State for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 at Case Softball Complex, which is also Strikeout Cancer Day.

GAME ONE: Saginaw Valley State 6, Parkside 2
The Cardinals got on the scoreboard early in game one, using back-to-back two-run innings in the first and second to grab a 4-0 lead, then added another in the third to pull out to a 5-0 advantage.

The Rangers scored a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning thanks to a Megan Aliverti RBI single that plated Adrien Hall and a Morgan Moore sacrifice fly that scored Samantha Newtoff.

Alyssa McClelland suffered the loss in game one, pitching all 6.0 innings allowing four earned runs. Parkside scattered four hits, coming from Kellie Fenza, Hall, Aliverti and McClelland

GAME TWO: Saginaw Valley State 6, Parkside 2
This game played out nearly opposite of game two, where the Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third, but the Cardinals stormed back to score four runs in the fifth and sixth inning.

In the top of the third, Cassie Walek's RBI single scored Fenza and then Walek came in to score on a stolen base, with Hall taking second and Walek heading for home.

Hall had a huge game, going 3-for-3 with a stolen base while Jessica Miklos had a double and Walek and Morgan Sikon each had hits.

WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will finish out the season on Sunday as the No. 10 ranked Lakers visit Case Softball Complex for a 1 p.m. start. The Rangers have been officially eliminated from the GLIAC Tournament.
