Ashland's pitching was the difference in Tuesday's doubleheader that saw the Parkside softball team lose both games against the home Eagles. Ashland won game one 9-1 followed by a 7-0 win after holding Parkside to three hits in both games combined.
Â
GAME ONE: Ashland 9, Parkside 1
The Rangers manufactured the first run of the game in the top of the first inning after
Kellie Fenza drew a leadoff walk, stole second, then came in to score on
Adrien Hall's bunt, putting the Rangers up 1-0 early. Ashland came back to take a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third then ended the game with a five-run sixth inning.
Â
Parkside was held to two hits in game one and was charged with two errors. Hall went 1-for-2 with an RBI while
Megan Aliverti had the team's other hit.
Â
GAME TWO: Ashland 7, Parkside 0
Ashland jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the first, then scored a run in every inning from the second to the sixth. The Rangers were held to one hit in game two, which was a leadoff single by Fenza in the first inning.
Jessica Crull was able to draw a walk, but Ashland's Hannah Stroe threw the complete-game gem.
