Softball Wins Fifth Straight with Sweep at Trinity Christian

Parkside softball earned their second straight sweep to extend its winning streak to five games, making it the longest winning streak for the softball program since the 2009 season where they also won five straight. Parkside shutout Trinity Christian 8-0 in game one behind yet another strong performance from Alyssa McClelland, and then won game two 6-4.
 
GAME 1: Parkside 8, Trinity Christian 0
McClelland threw her second straight complete-game shutout and has been on fire as of late, only allowing one earned run in her last 26.1 innings. In the win, she finished with 5.0 innings allowing four hits and one walk while striking out two.
 
Parkside took a huge lead right out of the gates in the top of the first inning, where the offense pushed across six runs to take a 6-0 lead. In the inning, Kellie Fenza scored on a wild pitch, Allison Hausl hit a two-run double, Jessica Miklos hit a two-run single and Fenza drove in Lydia Byrd on her second at-bat of the inning. After three straight scoreless innings, Morgan Moore brought in Morgan Sikon with a single in the top of the fourth, followed by a Cassie Walek RBI fielder's choice in the top of the fifth to make it 8-0 Rangers.
 
Moore finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run while Fenza went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI and Hausl had the two-run double. Byrd scored a pair of runs while Miklos had two RBI.
 
GAME 2: Parkside 6, Trinity Christian 4
The Rangers took a 6-0 lead before the Trolls made a late comeback to give Parkside a scare. In the top of the fourth, Adrien Hall broke the scoreless tie with a RBI double to plate Walek, followed by a Morgan Sikon RBI single and a Megan Aliverti RBI single. Moore made it 5-0 in the top of the fifth with a two-run single and Aliverti hit a sacrifice fly to put Parkside up 6-0.
 
The Trolls scored a pair of runs in the fifth and then two more in the seventh, but Kiley Akey pitched her way out of it to give the Rangers the win.
 
Akey earned the win, going all 7.0 innings allowing six hits, four runs, two walks with two strikeouts. Moore finished 2-for-3 with two RBI while Hall went 2-for-4 with two runs and a double. Aliverti went 2-for-2 with two RBI.
