Baseball Falls in Series Finale at PNW

PURDUE NORTHWEST 12, PARKSIDE 4
A big second inning was the difference for the Pride, who took Sunday's game to win all four games over the weekend. While the Rangers gave up 12 runs, just five of them were earned.

HOW IT HAPPENED
PNW was up 10-0 after two innings, including the big nine-run second inning that featured six unearned runs. Parkside battled back to make it 10-4 in the third inning as Justin Bennett had an RBI single, Casey Oliver was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Noah Tyrrell delivered a two-run single, but the Rangers' offense went cold the rest of the way as the Pride added two more runs.

STATWORTHY
A pair of Rangers had two-hit games in Bennett and Ricky West, while Tyrrell had two RBI and three other players had a hit. Mason Martin pitched 3.2 innings in relief of Jarrett Rossiano, allowing one earned run. Jake Macaluso pitched the final inning scoreless with a strikeout. All four of the Rangers runs were also unearned by the Pride pitching staff.

WHAT'S NEXT
Parkside will face Northwood for the team's home opener next weekend at Historic Simmons Field. The first game of the series is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, April 5.
