Volleyball Drops Home Match to No. 22 Michigan Tech

The No. 22 ranked Huskies came into DeSimone Gymnasium and shut down the Rangers, who were playing on Haribo Court for the first time since the announcement. MTU won 25-16, 25-17, 25-14 to snap Parkside's three-game winning streak. MTU has now won 13 of its last 14 matches and improved to 17-4 overall, and 9-1 in the GLIAC.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first set, MTU took an early lead and never trailed again. Parkside battled back, trailing by one at 16-15, but the Huskies rattled off eight of the next nine points and cruised to the first set win. In the second set, MTU again jumped out to the big early lead and held on throughout. In the third midway through, the Huskies pulled away with a 5-0 run to jump out to a 16-7 lead and the Rangers never recovered.
 
STAT LEADERS
Junior Rachel Hedman led the team with seven kills, while freshman Reese Rossnagel had six and sophomore Jazmine Neal had four. Hedman also led the team with 14 digs while freshman Alysha Brickl had 16 assists.
 
MTU hit .280 in the match while Parkside finished at .092. The Huskies led in kills (46-26), aces (4-1), digs (72-49) and assists (44-24). The Rangers led in blocks 6-4 while Neal had a game-high 4.0.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers will finish out the weekend with a 2 p.m. match against Northern Michigan in DeSimone Gymnasium. Saturday is a Ranger Cub Club Day and a Festival Foods Friends and Family Day.
