Women's Basketball Picked Fourth, Rahkonen Named Preseason All-GLIAC

KENOSHA, Wis. – The GLIAC preseason rankings were announced Thursday morning, and Parkside Women's Basketball was picked to finish fourth in the GLIAC North.

"We are really excited for this upcoming season! I know that we graduated a lot of experience, but we do have seven returning from last year, including two starters," said head coach Jen Conely. "We expect the conference to be very competitive this season. The GLIAC has a lot of great teams and we believe that our non-conference schedule will help prepare us for conference play."

Along with the rankings, the GLIAC also released preseason All-GLIAC team. Parkside senior Carolina Rahkonen was nominated in the North division, after she averaged 12.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in her junior season.
 
"It's great to see Carolina recognized prior to the start of her senior season," continued Conely. "She had a great season last year and has really taken her game to another level. We are expecting big things from her."

The Rangers are coming off a 12-15 season, with a 10-10 record in the GLIAC. Parkside will have seven returners on the year, highlighted by Rahkonen and fellow senior Taylor Stephen. The team will also experience some roster turnover, bringing in three freshmen and two Division-I transfers in sophomore Courtney Schoenbeck and redshirt-sophomore Claire Jakaitis.
