Ranger Women's Soccer Dominate in 3-0 Victory

Strokosch, Siegel and Benich Earn First Goal of the Season

"It took a while, but Myah (Strokosch) definitely deserved to score," head coach Brittany Nikolic said. "It is great to get some goals on the scoreboard and that first 'W' of the year."
"We got some valuable experience for a lot of players today that should help down the road," Nikolic added.
Strokosch is a freshman from Mundelein, Ill. The goal today was her first of the season as well as for the Rangers.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both the Rangers and the Clippers had a scoreless first half, but that all changed when the clock hit the 57th minute. After dribbling along the left end line, Strokosch was able to slip a shot in right past the goal keeper, putting Parkside on the scoreboard.
Not long after, teammates junior Kaylee Siegel and sophomore Delaney Benich added goals of their own. Siegel shot from the top of the box at the 64th minute-mark to receive her first goal of the season. After Siegel assisted Benich to do the same, who finishing in front of the left post to put the Rangers up 3-0.
 
STATWORTHY
The Rangers put on a shooting clinic this afternoon, earning 19 shots in the first half and 17 shots in the second, totaling 36 shots for the game. Parkside held the Clippers to one lone shot the entire game, saved by junior goalkeeper Lara Ferrari in the 87th minute.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Rangers home opener is this Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Wood Road Field against Lewis at 2:30 p.m.
