The Knights, who moved to 23-8 overall and 8-2 in the conference after Saturday, pounded out 24 hits while holding the Rangers to five in game one. Bellarmine scored nine runs in the first inning and five in each the third and fourth to jump out to a monster lead in the early going. Five Rangers scattered hits as the team scored four in the seventh and one in the eighth and ninth innings.

In game two, both pitchers were on a roll early, as it went scoreless through the first two and a half innings until Parkside broke through with a huge third inning where the tam scored six. Vincent Hubli got it going with a one-out single to center and runners went on the corners after a Knight error. Hunter Weddel hit an RBI single through the right side and Troy Bittenbender followed that with an RBI double that scored Michael Pillizzi. Domenic Hammudeh hit a two-run single to make it 4-0 and Nick Sramek crushed an RBI triple into right center to make it 5-0. The final run came in on a passed ball.

Bellarmine threatened late, plating two runs in the sixth inning, but Rana shut them down in the seventh, going 1-2-3 and earning another strikeout along the way. Rana finished with 7.0 innings allowing just three hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts. He was charged with two earned runs.

For the second straight game, the Rangers had five hits by five different players as Bittenbender had a double and Sramek added a triple.

The Rangers and Knights will finish out the four-game series on Sunday at noon at Red Oberbruner Field.
