LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Parkside softball team earned its second straight split of the weekend, as the team fell in game one to Bellarmine on the road 4-0 but came back to win game two 3-1 in the seventh inning.

In game one, the Ranger offense was held in check with just two hits while Bellarmine finished with eight. Bellarmine plated two runs in the third and one in each the fourth and fifth inning to come away with the win. Both hits by the Rangers came by the top two in the batting order,
Jessica Shields and
Kellie Fenza, as each finished 1-for-3.
In game two, Parkside bounced back with 10 hits and came back with a two-run top of the seventh inning to break a 1-1 tie. The Rangers took the early 1-0 lead as
Samantha Newtoff singled up the middle to score
Danielle Crockett, but Bellarmine answered with a run in the fifth inning, making it 1-1.
In the top of the seventh,
Allison Hausl led off with a single to right field and Fenza hit a one-out single to left field, putting runners on the corners with one out.
Megan Aliverti drove in the go-ahead run with a single to left field and Crockett followed that with an RBI double to left field to score Fenza, putting the Rangers up 3-1.
Alyssa Hrncar, per usual, pitched the complete game, going 7.0 innings allowing six hits and four walks with two strikeouts to earn the win. Three players from Parkside went 2-for-4 in Fenza, Crockett and Newtoff.
The Rangers will head to face Lewis next weekend on Saturday before welcoming in Saint Xavier on Sunday and Cardinal Stritch on Monday for a pair of home doubleheaders.
