ROSEMONT, Ill. – In a late-night doubleheader, the Parkside softball team earned its third straight split of a conference opponent as the Rangers fell in game one 2-0 but came back to win game two 7-2. The Green & White remain at .500 on the season with a 17-17 overall record along with an 8-8 record in conference.

In game one, the Ranger offense was limited to just three hits, which came from
Jessica Shields,
Megan Aliverti and
Madison Manders. With
Allison Hausl pitching, the Flyers got to the sophomore just once on a two-run single in the fourth inning. Hausl finished pitching the complete 6.0 innings allowing nine hits with a trio of strikeouts.
In game two, Parkside's offense came back to life, pounding out 11 hits en route to the 7-2 victory. After Lewis took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Rangers responded with a two-run second inning to grab the lead they wouldn't surrender the rest of the way.
Morgan Sikon led off with a walk and was brought in to score on Manders' RBI single.
Adrien Hall followed that with an RBI double to left field that scored
Samantha Newtoff.
After another Lewis run in the bottom of the second, the Rangers once again responded nicely, this time scoring three runs in the top of the third inning. Newtoff hit an RBI single that scored Sikon, who again walked. Manders came to the plate next and ended up reaching on a dropped fly ball in right field, which brought in a pair of runs to make it 5-2.
Parkside added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the sixth, as Aliverti brought in Shields and Hausl with a two-run single.
In game two, Aliverti finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and Manders went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Newtoff had a good game, going 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Hall also went 2-for-4 with a double.
Alyssa Hrncar pitched the complete game again, 7.0 innings allowing two runs on nine hits and one walk.
