In game one, the Pride jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after two innings of play thanks to a two-run home, a two-run triple and a Ranger error.

The Rangers got two runs back in the top of the fifth inning with the help of a Pride one-out error. Vincent Hubli reached on the throwing error and Paul Weise drew a walk to put runners on first and second. Nick Sramek singled to load the bases and Lovell Chandler brought in Hubli with a fielder's choice to make it 5-1. Hunter Weddel came through with a nice RBI double that scored Weise in the next at-bat, but a groundout ended the Ranger inning.

Hit went even at six apiece and Parkside had six different players with a hit. Chandler and Weddel, the team's top-two in the lineup, each went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Isaac Lawler was on the mound in his first career start, but he suffered the loss, going 4.2 innings allowing five runs on five hits and six walks while Max Widmar pitched a scoreless 3.0 innings to end the game; he also had four strikeouts.

In game two, Purdue Northwest again jumped out to an early lead, plating two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Rangers got one back in the top of the second, where Troy Bittenbender singled and came around to score on a wild pitch, making it 2-1.

The Pride added two more runs in the bottom of the second off an RBI double and an RBI single, making it 4-1 PNW. Parkside made it a one-run ball game in the top of the fifth inning. Widmar hit a two-out single to get things going and Domenic Hammudeh hit a double to left field to put runners on second and third. Bittenbender hit a two-run double to center field that scored Widmar and Hammudeh to make it 4-3.

PNW added the final two runs of the seven inning game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Bittenbender finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI while Hammudeh went 2-for-3. Jarrett Rossiano pitched the first 4.0 innings and suffered the loss while Kyle Portner pitched a scoreless 2.0 innings to close out the game.

The Rangers will battle Purdue Northwest again in a doubleheader on Sunday at noon at 2:30 p.m.
